IMPORTANT NOTES FOR FOREIGN CANDIDATES

Definitions

There is a name clash arising in the translation of this kind of study programs from Italian to English.

This program is a Professional Master, not to be confused with a Master's Degree:

  • it awards 60 ECTS (European Credit Transfer System) that may be recognized by other study programs;
  • it is not a 120-ECTS second-cycle program, e.g. it does not grant access to Ph.D. courses in EU;
  • it is not part of the three cycles composing the main track of public education, thus its students do not qualify for grants awarded through public subsidies.

(No) Special provisions

There are no special provisions (e.g. reserved places) for foreign students, who are very welcome to enroll following the same timeline and satisfying the same entry requirements as Italian ones, but are required  to provide certain legalized translation of their titles, as clearly explained in the call for applications.

Specific instructions for UE citizens

Please read carefully the dedicated guide

Specific instructions for extra-UE citizens

Please read carefully the dedicated guide; the process is also described in the official call for applications. Article 3 describes the pre-enrollment steps, to access the selection process. These are quite simple. Article 5 describes the enrollment process to be followed if you are selected. This phase is more complex, especially if you plan to come to Italy to attend lectures in person and apply for an internship that requires presence at the company premises; in that case you almost certainly need a visa.

KEY MESSAGE: ACT EARLY.

  • GET TO KNOW THE DEADLINE FOR VISA APPLICATION.
  • UNDERSTAND WHAT DOCUMENTS YOU NEED.
  • PREPARE ALL DOCUMENTS WELL IN ADVANCE.

The access point to be recognized by the Embassy as a valid visa applicant is Universitaly. There, you will upload many items, such as

  • Valid passport
  • Personal photo
  • Scan of degree certificate
  • Certification of qualification
  • Declaration of value
  • List of university exams with grades and credits
  • Translation of documents (if needed)
  • Certificate of proficiency in Italian or English (if required by the call for applications)
  • Other (e.g., cover letter, CV, motivation letter, payment receipts, etc.)

Our offices will issue a validation of your status only when every document is present and you have completed the enrollment process, paying the first installment of the fee - it is useless to ask for certification of your status as a student at Unibo if you lack any requirement.

Also, take care to do it right at the first attempt, because if your application for a long-term visa is rejected by the Embassy, you won't be allowed to submit another visa application for the same academic year.

Our offices can solve most of your doubts, and provide guidance; write to for these matters, but do not expect us to be able to exert pressure on the Embassy. You are the only one who can maximize your own chances of success, by moving early and following the instructions with precision!
