Laboratory Activities

• Nuclear Reactor Physics Laboratory (ENEA Casaccia, Rome)
Giacomo Grasso

This laboratory will provide training sessions for the operations of a real experimental research reactor. They will be held on the research reactors TRIGA and TAPIRO at the Casaccia ENEA Reasearch Centre. During these training sessions the students will observe the start-up and shutdown of the reactor, and its modulation at different power levels. The students will carry out tests on control rod calibration and fall, measuring the main neutron parameters of the reactor and applying the knowledge of reactor physics and neutron kinetics to deduce the effectiveness of the absorber.

• Nuclear Technologies Laboratory (ENEA Brasimone, Bologna)
Marco Utili

At the experimental laboratories of ENEA Brasimone research centre the master students will take part in experimental campaigns for the characterization of components and systems of a LFR reactor. They will lead specific working phases of working of the liquid lead plants, calibrating the plant instrumentation, as well as both collecting and interpretating the experimental measurements as applications of the acquired knowledge in the fields of thermal hydraulics chemistry and plant design to a case of actual research interest.
